he said PCI express, which is the newest type.

I would suggest checking some review web sites.

New Dells dont have AGP slots only the new PCI EXPRESS type so I need a new card or I am stuck using the onboard one.

pci express is faster I think, you can link 2 together for better performance.

PCI Express isn't just for graphics either, whereas AGP is.

The x300 i think that came with the dell 8400 i have works ok for most games, but you can see some lag here and here compared to my old 5950 ultra. But I have since then moved up to a ATI x800 XT PE - it great but pricy.

I have a demension 5000, the onboard is not bad but is jumping a bit now and again. Have been looking at a nVidia GeForce 6600, not to bad to £100ish. I not the gamer Zombie is so dont want to spend that kind of cash.

PCI Express = 16x, AGP = 8x

Supposedly a few manufacturers are developing Raid controllers to work on the PCI Express bus. They should scream.

No - They had to invent something else because you stole the idea.
